Oddly, the more Cora checks whether what she’s seeing is due to neurological pathology, the more easily i can imagine her being surrounded by ghosts.

This is a book to be savoured. It’s not about rushing forward to find out where the plot is leading me, like running over stepping stones, it’s about understanding who Cora:is, who trauma has made her and sharing her sense of helpless dislocation, It’s full of sentences I itch to highlight and share and I’m only two chapters in.

A surprising start. The prose and Cora’s interior dialogue are almost as strange as the dramatic even that ends the first chapter. There’s a feeling of coming in and out of focus, of being in the world and watching it from the outside.
I think this is going to be remarkable and perhaps a little challenging.
