I love this author and absolutely adored her barbarian series, so to say I've been looking forward to this spinoff series is an understatement. I think I literally squeed when I saw that Book 1 was out. But... so far I'm not feeling it. Orthorr's initial resistance felt like a seen-it-a-million-times tired take on contrived conflict, and Cedric, so far, is the blandest character to ever bland. Honestly? I'm bored. :(

... It really is! I'm trying to talk myself into sticking with it in the hope that it will get better, but strongly suspect it might end up on my DNF shelf... as evidenced by just having spent the last half hour searching for something else to read 🤣

I wish I didn't understand. Just DNF'd and am going to hunt your and other friend's shelves to see if I can find anything I feel like reading. I'm in such a moooood!

... I feel that pain! I've been having horrible luck finding anything new, too... Just gave up and reread one of my favorites instead, so if you're in the mood for two sweet, men + PNR maybe try Lee Colgin's Mongrel? Relatively low heat, slower paced action due to being set in the past, and always makes me smile 😊
