I put the book down and stared at the ceiling for a good few minutes. Jesus Christ.

So much horrific and upsetting stuff in this book, but I had to check out for a second after Lucas walked Agnes and her brother home. Yikes.

Finished The Notebook. Wow. Really enjoyed the writing style especially, but also the examination of how these kids continued to lose their innocence.

Obviously some very weird stuff that put me off in this—certainly not enjoyable to read those sections. But everything else about the novel feels intense and compact, and I think it’s a great depiction of war corrupting the public. Nice end to everything too.

Minimalist writing style is highly captivating. I’m very intrigued by where this whole thing is going.

Picked it up because it has been quoted as heavily influencing Mother 3. Really feeling for these poor kids caught up in everything.
