all this batu yearning makes me think of another danmei 'blossom by river country' (ftl still in progress, but its a good one). a non-han general/half-han couple. couldnt figure out which type of steppe tribe it is, but something mongol-shaped for sure. need to catch up on the new chapters some time.

Somehow the central mystery of this entire thing is does lang junxia care about duan ling or not? (I think he does. Not that he didnt try to kill him, he deffo did, its just his heart ultimately wasn't in it - there is no way DL would have survived otherwise)

u do now this danmei just looks like some giant debauchery fest for me now
there is more fucking happening in my updates than in the novel sadly.
how is the novel overall tho ur updates don't seem that enthused about it
id say its a 3 star territory for me, or 3.5. its not bad, rather decent. but my enjoyment of it is in constant fluctuation. i think to rule in a turbulent time is still my fave novel of his by a loooooong margin.
ooh okay, when it got licensed, i heard a lot about this found family aspect that made me want to read it. maybe i’ll try after all the volumes come out ig… also, for that danmei, i saw the male lead was a slave or some shit and i didn’t care to read it 😭😭

yes the ML, a quanrong, was enslaved by the Han and then the MC buys him on a whim which pretty much saves his life as his master was about to beat him to death in a sack. so yeah. a grim start but the novel is excellent but not everyone is going to be able to handle their initial dynamics.

i see, i see... maybe when that has a completed official translation, i will read it as well. i've only read legend of exorcism by him but, i enjoy like his writing enough to check the rest out when they're done.
