if humans ever got everything they asked for, they wouldn’t be satisfied. once our work are done and all problems are solved, we’d grow restless, maybe even angry. give people paradise and they will still complain. utopia is a joke. it’s quite a bleak take on human nature but it’s not that far off.

he’s right about reducing humans to equations is suffocating. if you tell me my true interests are already calculated for me, it will start to feel like everything is predestined and i can’t make choices for myself. rational self interest conflicts with autonomy. people absolutely self sabotage on purpose
