Have considered not finishing this whole time and still am. Very “tell”, not “show” with the exhausted butter metaphor, it’s almost painful. I have not been made to assume anything about any one character because you’re given their entire physical description and personality outright in like, a list format omg

I think it’s my first time reading English translation from Japanese and I feel like maybe that translation has interfered with the prose a lot. The book so far feels so simple that it definitely has to be missing something compared to the original.
