Ch 28: Tom Hartigan (Lily Marbury’s beau) tells Crome dates, locations-ish, and Cust’s initial line up with ABC. Lily calls Cust, tells him an inspector from SY is coming to speak w/ him. Lily disguises her voice from her mother (sister/nephew story). Cust leaves, says he will be gone only 1 or 2 days.

Ch 27: victim: George Earlsfield. Roger Emmanuel Downes was the intended. Police escort/house watch, in case ABC comes back. Mary Stroud (maid who saw Cust) comes into the station with Mr. Ball (Black Swan owner). She describes Cust. Constables find silk stockings in the bag he left behind. He signed the hotel register ABC.

C h 25: Cust exits the “Regal Cinema” (lol) and walks to the Black Swan hotel. He notices a bit of blood on his sleeve. He pulls a long thin knife, also covered in blood, out of his pocket. Cust is frightened; says “It isn’t my fault” aloud. A maid enters and sees blood in the sink, he explains he cut himself. Afraid he’ll be caught, he exits the hotel and heads for the train.

Ch 24: Mr. Leadbetter is watching Not a Sparrow Falls. During the pinnacle scene a man causes a commotion passing by him. After the film’s ended, a man is blocking the row with his legs sticking out. He is dead. Under his seat is an ABC.

Ch 23: in Doncaster. Franklin shows Poirot a letter, claims there was nothing going on between Car and Thora. Hastings to escort Mary Drower, since her name begins with a D (not her first name though??? Alice Ascher, Elizabeth (Betty) Barnard, Carmichael Clarke??? Like is Mary a nickname?)

Ch 22: Mrs. Marbury, Cust’s landlord notices he seems ill. He insists on traveling, on being dependable. To Cheltenham. Packs “flat cardboard boxes”. Lily (Mrs Marbury’s daughter) comments that he needn’t say goodbye like he will never see her again. Cust was in Churston (6-7 miles for Torquey) when Car was killed! Tom Hartigan saw Cust at Euston (not how to get to Cheltenham!), his tockey said Doncaster.
