Faulkner has done an excellent job with his descriptions which, while lengthy, lay out in perfect detail his characters and settings. I have also long been a fan of his characters. He sets up Miss Coldfield as an overly talkative and obnoxious character, and just when I began thinking “does this woman ever shut up?” He shows that, indeed, her interlocutors also have grown weary of her. So far I love it.
