i think “the shadow” might be my favorite short story of this collection yet. it was so impactful and its ending so abrupt. it led its reader to believe one thing, making it a core message and dismantled it all in the last page. magnificent 10/10 did NOT expect a story on racism and religion from plath to be this good

when i first read “the fifty-ninth bear” i almost pooped my pants because i thought it was actually misogynistic. after the ending, i feel i’ve been saved by mother sylvia oncemore

fifteen-dollar eagle:
i don’t really get this one. it felt very misogynistic, and i’m struggling to tell if this was intentional or more of plath’s ignorance. i do see quite a bit of potential in this story though. i’m also exhausted and can’t analyze properly atm so i will examine more soon
