It’s interesting but tough coming to this book after being so familiar with the movie version. I struggled through the Tom Bombadil section until the implication of his backstory in Fog on the Barrow-Downs.

I initially thought I’d met a complete roadblock in the Barrow-Downs chapter, but I learned to appreciate the evocative language even if it wasn’t always clear what was happening.
