Jonathan K (Max Outlier) Any thoughts?

Christina Macabre I really went out of my way to not have any spoilers. So I didn't "know" it was about a trail about rape, though I am pretty sure I might have known at some point. It was never required reading in any class I was in. In some ways, lol, it is like a Joyce Carol Oates story: dark, we don't know where it is going and it is about the characters / their development. Also the themes of race in a 'faraway time' my words, race relations and punishment are also very JCO. A few of her works come to mind immediately: I Lock the Door Upon Myself (1990), The Accursed (2013) and I just spent one full hour going through my read JCO books and short stories and I can't find the short story that came to mind... was about a black boy in a forest.
I am very much enjoying that is it written from an eight year old's point of view especially because she is a female and very strong / determined in her aims and views.

Christina Macabre After writing this and going through my old Joyce Carol Oates reviews and also reading other reviews I started to wonder if To Kil a Mockingbird is a gothic novel. Surprisingly, I didn't realize I was into gothic novels except for JCO. I even had to google what the gothic genre was exactly,

Christina Macabre OMG YES Jonathan I found the notes I was looking for yay!
