Opening this book with a reference to Beethoven's Pathétique sonata (arguably his most tragic and one of the most contemplative) was inspired. Not only for its use as a resistance tool in itself but also due to the choice of composer. This is such an horrific opening to an horrific time period, but I'm very happy with the nuanced take so far.
