Gives really strong One dark window vibes.
Also I'm struggling with it just like with her Tempests of shadows series. I just can't place the story or more like the world building. Are we talking modern-ish or more like a fantasy setting, or maybe a dystopian like? The descriptions just don't give a clear picture of this for me and my brain basically fights itself to create a scenery....and that is a struggle.
