Arabs are described as homogenous group which are rarely expressive, fleshed out or particularly abrasive until serving as a violent plot device- would be interesting to track colonial dynamics in this novel

Heat is becoming protagonist in this book in its own right. Use of crucifix here a bit surreal + on the nose. Finding myself predicting M dawgs reaction to things bc he really just does not care, what is interesting is how others react to this indifference and what they represent (judge > law and order, faith etc)

M dawg is surreal, mans got a serious case of disassociation. Also am enjoying this feature should have written more reviews as I went along for the other books lol.

Had to pull out sparknotes to check the scene before part 1 ends? Learning about Meursault’s (or M dawg bc cba to spell) indifference as an expression of Camus + the absurd critique is interesting. TBH, his indifference is refreshingly honest and to me feels more immediately telling of a man coping with grief? Not that we understand much of the relationship with his mother. Want to analyse more women’s role too
