I do like it when a book gives me "refrigerator thoughts" this is what occurred to me
Was the Aunt nice or bitchy? When I first saw her, I thought she was nice but later she was bitch. But was that her true self or was it that snakey monster in the cloak?

And then it got worse. Jeff Strand is very good at piling on the troubles to his poor characters. It is a wonder they don't chase him around in his nightmares

What killed Tommy's aunt? I can't imagine she would let the baby get too far from her especially a haunted forest. This is why I shouldn't let my reading pause for days at a time
