i get why people say this is a companion piece to catcher in the rye

quite strange, how the entire narrative begins within its first sentence with a sense of death and it just keeps and keeps on going. electrocutions, cadavers, sweltering, rotting heat, debilitation, doreen looking white as a ghost or a corpse, babies in jars… a couple pages in and one has more references to death than life
