the way i remember it so differently from when i was younger— somehow completely missed the political and religious plot lines, perceiving it more as a story about one brave girl, her ferret and an armored polar bear. wow. it still feels like a children’s book but now that i see the “adult depth” it’s just a really weird experience of re-shaping my childhood memories
