1000 ships: teacher/student relationship. nothing special really. i think i was so traumatized by "my dark vanessa" that this didn't really faze me. was looking at the book this was a prequel too and the ratings weren't great, so probably won't pick it up.

four funerals: um somehow i didn't think that school shootings would be covered under dark academia ..? anyways, this presents the perspectives of a professor who thought the shooter's violent writing was purely fictional, gave suggestion, and didn't report him, "allowing" the shooting to happen, and the shooter's mother. survivors' guilt, i guess. idk how to feel about this.

the ravages: predictable and nothing ground breaking, but it's always satisfying to get revenge of a cheater

x house: 4 stars. happy to see a fleshed out short story! would read a full-length novel with this plot if i get more insights into the mass hysteria

the hare and the hound: i actually enjoyed this a lot and think i'd read a fully developed book with this vibe of magical realism. that being said, nothing about this is dark academia.

sabbatical: i don't think i understand what the author is aiming for here. or how it's supposed to be dark academia? just because it's set in a school doesn't make it dark academia?

pythia: this was highly anticipated bc im a sucker for olivie blake. was honestly quite confusing at times but i did enjoy the techno-speculative aspect of it, similar to a black mirror episode. actually i think there might be one or a few episodes of black mirror on immortalizing your consciousness in a computer?
