I usually hate metafiction and “The Strange Case of X” is probably the best example of it that I’ve experienced. Metafiction at its finest.

Finished the next novella, The Transformation of Martin Lake. LOVED the perspective shifts and imagery.

Finished the next novella, The Early History of Ambergris. Very unique and interesting for what it is. Of all the novellas in this book, this was the one I thought I would like the least; it’s a fictional historical account of a city containing frequent footnotes. I ended up loving it!

Started the next novella, “An Early History of Ambergris.”
