when david begged prof earlier, i knew he’d lost hope.
now all these things he’s telling him… i don’t know if he believes them himself. when megan intercepted david’s death sentence in a flash as megan, not bright and burning like firefight, i could cry. david is always raving about prof’s ability profile but i don’t think he’s considered the possibilities that megan’s has to offer.

i didn’t even realize how horrible david’s situation was until this moment. technology melted and destroyed, two teammates killed by one who became corrupted, love of his life shot and burnt and dead, freshly murdered two high epics, an incredibly powerful one still free.

when i tell you the absolute terror and dread i felt when i read this line… oh my god that was unreal. the epic power corruption is so visible in regalia in this moment. when he killed her i wanted to laugh because wow he just stuck a sword through her chest and prof WATCHED. the fact that he destroyed val and exel blindly without a thought.. i genuinely don’t know how to describe what i felt in
that moment.

the scene with obliteration just before this was pretty epic. and what he told regalia about obliteration.. david is so fucking smart. and damn, regalia is a cancerous decrepit old woman. dawnslight is real but in a coma and his neon-painted dreams determine the walls of the a half-sunken city.

what the fuck 😭 that scene gave me whiplash because wdym david is shoving through a crowd and comes face to face with OBLITERATION. i don’t even know how to describe how i felt reading this scene. and he called david “slayer of angels”. that just sounds so poetic, of course, but sad somehow.

as soon as i read “it was firing into the room where megan had been.”, my jaw fucking DROPPED. HOLY. i fully agree with david, she is brilliant—the most awesome, most clever, most incredible person ever. god i love the way sanderson writes. that was mythical. like i knew she wouldn’t die but he had me believing it would be profs dealing, DEFINITELY not planned suicide by a gun setup.

i literally had to come back here because of what regalia told david about having “spoke too freely when punishing newton”. dang i don’t know how i missed that—regalia is not one to throw compliments around and she was THROWING those. AND it made newton pause and stop hunting david.

omfg david is CRAZY. he’s literally.. wow. i don’t even know what to say, he’s so fucking smart ?! i genuinely don’t know how he figured that out. but i can’t even describe the shock and confusion i felt when he first said “you’re beautiful, newton.” i wonder what she’d been told in the past to make her fear it, or how long she’d been waiting for someone to tell her anything along those lines.

this scene shouldn’t have surprised me but it really did.. i don’t know why i didn’t expect brandon to write newton delivering such a punishment.

fuck i knew brandon couldn’t let david become an epic. i am just so impressed and proud that he managed to fight the impossible so easily and spit it in regalia’s face. i was curious to see what his powers would’ve been.. the next book is called calamity though. let’s hope david isn’t forced to find out.
