i'm kind of unconvinced that we would turn so quickly to slaughtering other human beings just to quench our desire for protein. not because i have any strong faith in humankind's collective morality (i think we're all quite capable of extreme evil), but because legalized cannibalism seems like a far jump, especially mass-produced legalized cannibalism of all races. veganism first? no?

beginning to enjoy this a lot more, but just got to the part where he really talks about Leo and it irks me so much that these people are still preoccupied with giving birth of all things. babies are so sacred to some, even in a time of cannibalism i suppose

or maybe it's because tejo's explanation of how things came to be is just so unconvincing. i can imagine that famine would drive mass murders. but the author is like "yeah people wanted protein so they killed all the immigrants and marginalized and poor people." at least put your back into it, agustina
