Bravo. Jemisin once again bucked my expectations and is taking this story in a direction I was not anticipating it was going to go at the 30 per cent mark. And is actually a better story than my expectations built so far. Going to show that not all broken expectations are disappointments.

It took 4 chapters for me to get a grip of where this book is continuing on from where I left off in Book 1. Which was about 2 chapters more than it took me to figure out who "Shiny" was.
If they are going to do what they are implying they will, I'm intrigued at the timeline. And glad I got back into this world sooner rather than later.

One would think getting sick would increase time spent reading rather than the opposite, but alas, my reading time has cratered while I recover.
I'm trying to get a finger on the timeline of the book following the events of the first. It feels like it is taking place a long time after, but it may not be? I guess I'll just have to read on and find out.
