## Chapters 6-10
The developing relationship between Carter and Ajax is a treat.
The way magic works is intriguing as hell. In chapter 10 we see our second glimpse at it, and while some of the descriptions made me a tiny bit squeamish I was on the edge of my seat during the entire thing.
Worldbuilding continues to be a highlight.

So far the first 5 chapters are great! Our lead detective is the picture book of a hardboiled detective who doesn't get along with his higher ups and the relationship with his new partner is sublime. Worldbuilding has been a highlight of the book so far. Expertly introduced without over-exposition, top notch stuff!
