"Might take all night," he says lightly.
And it does. We stay out on the dock, talking for hours. It doesn't feel like hours, though. It feels like I blink and suddenly the first hint of gray-blue light breaks over the horizon.

Wyatt pauses, and I can't stop myself from pulling my hand out of my blanket cocoon and slipping it into his. I want him to feel something solid, to know that I'm not smoke. That this conversation isn't smoke, and it's not going to blow away.

I'm frozen for a second. I've seen her smile before, but not ike this, and I suddenly feel like someone seeing color for the first time. This smile is unguarded. It's soft and alive and shining brighter than the sun. It traps my breath halfway in thy chest.
For a moment, the entire world simply...stops.
