The author draws God or depicts God, I don’t even know how to phrase it. This is not something we can do. She draws how she imagines God to look like I’m guessing and I feel really uncomfortable because wouldn’t this be shirk?

She’s got really out there ideas about heroism, more knighthood than heroism especially even her peers found the idea of heroism too much. Heroism is someone taking care of you and defending you, but in such a backdrop how much is too much heroism? Her ideas are sounding like a contemporary Bollywood film.

Ah this is so bad. At 10 years old, Mehri, their maid, was given to their family because her family couldn’t support this many children. A maid, a caretaker, from the age of 10. She falls in love later but they cannot be together because of difference in social class and she has Marji write letters on her behalf because she can’t write. Makes me feel so bad, I used to have a very young handmaid back home as well.

No, that’s not nice, the maid should sit and eat dinner with them.

I stopped reading a prayer for Owen Meany because for a deep book, the writing being small means physical and cognitive strain. So I picked up Persepolis.. where the writing is also small. Please! Make reading accessible for all.

You have every reason to be feel uncomfortable, drawing Allah سبحانه وتعالى is strictly forbidden. It’s impossible to capture how He is , I don’t know why the author felt the need to do that especially if she’s Muslim.

She’s drawing God as she saw him as a child, I don’t know if it continues but even still could it not have been her talks with God or something because it could potentially invite people to forbidden acts maybe? Like I already know as much as the rest of the book so far is so good, for this reason, it has to be 0 stars and there’s no way I can’t mention this part
