I’m gonna have to like think through the rating on this one because I do like the overall plot, but I feel like the character of Waldo was way too young with what we were getting towards the ladder part of the book. And it just didn’t feel very realistic. I did like the ending though.

This whole book feels so sad. You know how this ends for Waldo.

I get why so many people felt disconnected from this book. McCurdy writes it in a way that very much is in your face. Vulgar. And you don't like Waldo, because she's very much going after her teacher and he should know better. It's not going to a good place and you don't like anyone in this story outside of the poor wife and the hungry for love mother of Waldo. I still can't look away though. It's a trainwreck.

This is actually very engaging at this point and you can see where the first line is crossed and how Waldo is going to get encouraged. I think the short choppy chapters are actually working better now and it’s pushing me to keep reading and hold my breath for the first turn so to speak.

Short choppy chapters, but not getting a good sense of the main character at all we are following. High schooler crushing on her high school teacher.
