Just read the chapter on Get Out and was surprised to find an interesting comparison between the film and this author’s experience being one of the only queer black journalists in Utah. Very interesting points on black body snatching in both literal horror stories and a more metaphorical experience of blackness in white, Mormon Utah.

Skipping around so that I’m not spoiling any movies for myself but the Jennifer’s body essay was pretty interesting. I expected more theory than personal anecdote but I do enjoy Carmen Maria Machado’s perspective and of course just generally her style of writing a lot.
