the dorne plotline is just about the most useless thing. i have no idea why it’s here. it goes nowhere. what’s the point of having 3 pov characters when u kill one off in 2 seconds and the other never returns? arya’s chapters are quite boring. jaime’s chapters are good. brienne’s too. cersei’s vary.

i think the biggest reason these fantasy books are so big is because they’re so frivolous with their words. 90% of the sentences look like the first thing the author thought of didnt care to revise. im not at all surprised when i hear that some book or other in the S&F genre was written in 2 weeks, 1 month etc. No shit.

It is patently clear that George carried over from his journalistic days the adage “tell’em what you’re gonna tell’em, tell’em, tell’em what you told’em”. It’s nice to read an easy book though. I had fallen into thinking I was a wretchedly slow reader.
