the more we work, the more we reinforce our society into thinking we have to work more to maintain current progress. we are also not happier, or richer, savings rate have gone down, stagnating wages, inflation, high debt, layoffs

the author is really good at depicting and capturing the monotomy of having a 9-5, really compels you to think what really is "living"?

he makes an interesting point of even if ure able to turn ur back on ur career, we cannot mentally let go of it because we often make our career central to our identity, replacing other aspects of our lives such as community or faith
