she met jean luc, falls in love and move in with him. the trials start, and she shocks everyone by requesting an open trial. she also built up the bravery to watch the videos shes been avoiding. she describes her emotions realizing women are coming to avignon to support her

lots of intimate details of his relationship with trevor and his relationship with drugs. trevor also overdosed multiple times and died. his grandma also died from bone cancer. despite his tough upbringings, we can tell that he loves this decrepit place without romanticizing it, its still very gritty

she found out luke is married. while they were hanging out, her writing was stalled. luke tried to reconnect but the hurt stopped her from feeling it again. but now he calls again...

his mother's mental decline, presumably from ptsd, is very sad. describes lots of his personal life like his first boyfriend, first sexual experience, the internalised misogyny in his boyfriend (not wanting to be bottomed because he doesn't want to feel like a girl), how being a sub bottom empowered him (trauma response?), when he came out to his mum

The main character's mom died, and she's really feeling the loss. She is working as a waitress, in crippling debt from undergraduate and grad school, she moved around from different places, but now is based in Boston.

happy ending: bennett remarried, alice and fred married, sven and marge married, happily ever after

margery got thrown into jail by the police chief and van cleeve for murdering a local drunk. great plot lines, really shows the despair and desparation. bennett tipped them off of a surprise witness.

michael came for francesca's wedding to his cousin and was in love with her. the 3 of them seem to have a really good relationship.

definitely if I saw read. Apparently, the flood that happened is not because of rain, it is a slurry dam from Van Cleve's mine. You can really feel the anger and frustration and emotions of all the characters involved. This is a great read.

van cleeve shot margery's dog, this made the book a 5-star for me. lots of intersectionality with race, gender, poverty, the patriarchy. fred and alice have dinner together. now they're also in a flood(?)

giver of stars is the poetry book fred gave alice. alice and her hub are still not boning, her father in law beat her up for not quitting the library and is demanding the whole town not use the service anymore. alice is living with margery while fred falls in love with her.

paul (his step-grandfather) and ocean vuong has a really sweet relationship, i can tell it means a lot to both of them. we see a tender moment of his grandmother and mother giving him an ugly nickname to "spiritually protect him".

we find out more ocean vuong's family history, ties to the republic of vietnam government. his father died in custody of the communists. his "grandfather" is not actually his grandfather. he's navigating understanding his own identity

this is significantly better as spoken poetry. ocean vuong is a great narrator. the analogy about the deer taxidermy is beautiful. but like i think this is no plot just vibes

people are only really interested in what they want. Therefore, lead first with their problems and how you can solve them. The easiest way to arrive at success is to understand what the other person is feeling.

there's the main character, margery, a disabled girl, and a black librarian. theres a big demand, and they all love their jobs. main character has a husband where hes like impotent or something. shows really nicely the double standard of society when it comes to fertility while really showing the ferocity of the main character. depending on plot, 3-4 stars

unsatisfying. the whole debutant, belly's mom's affair, everyone working at the country club, jere's dad's affair, all of that was hulu show only. the books are unsatisfying, the show is unsatisfying, only the worldbuilding was magical. whatever. 2.

Alice is a British girl who moved to Kentucky to get married to her husband. She signs up to do a moving library where she deliver books to people in rural areas. Not all of the girls in the town like her because their friend used to be her husband's sweetheart. men in town are not comfortable letting women ride around on horses and deliver books and having autonomy.

your perception of success is limited to past experiences and what you know. so when you experience a different kind of success that you aren't used to, you perceive it as a failure.

victoria has the gun, she tried to shoot adam and sylvia, but sylvia threw herself and victoria down the stairs

plot twist: she's the crazy one, but he pushed her down the stairs

vic's friends thinks her husband is weird. vic's husband starts showing more red flags. currently, victoria says check out the tree in the garden and there's a bullet hole. the narrator is getting suspiscious about victoria's meds.
