ending feels abrupt and convenient, the soviet section feels undeveloped, the reunion doesnt really give the desired effect.

lale smuggles food to other prisoners in exchange for money and jewels. he got caught and got tortured but still made it out thanks to sulka, whos a sex slave for a general. leon got his balls chopped off. him and gita had sex. gita while being transported to another camp escaped. lale got transported to another facility and escaped.

families of Jews in Europe have to volunteer one person or else they're going to take the whole family to a concentration camp. Lale volunteers himself, and gets to Auschwitz. Because of his language skills, he gets to be a tatooer. he likes gita, she was sick with typhoid, so he uses his position of power and relationship with the guard to trade for food
