putting myself through new forms of torture by waiting 3 months to read any more of monte cristo because I am dedicated to the bit of matching my reading to the serialized publication dates. but instead of waiting 7 months I will wait for 3. anyway can you imagine being a reader of this during its original publication and having to wait for 6 months only for dumas to STILL be introducing the guests at this breakfast

can you imagine being a dedicated reader of this during its original serialization only to have almost a week of updates solely dedicated to some seemingly completely unrelated story. the roman bandits chapter would drive me insane

spacing out my readings of each chapter to match with the original serialization dates is fun until I finish a chapter and realize I gotta wait a week to read more 😭 the problems I purposely inflict on myself because at the time I thought it would be fun
