By the time I have come to the end of Chapter 6, I seem to have got the hang of Joyce's writing. There is obscurity, but there is also great beauty. A complex creation.

The "Cyclops" episode is an interesting example of how Irish nationalism was coupled with antisemitism. The "Citizen', who represents the nationalist, has only one metaphorical eye, it seems.
