The running gag with the guy's name was grating in the first book already. It's the kind of thing a good author drops at least when things start to get dire...

Look, if you can't actually come up with a full name for a character you really should not make said character being unable to fully introduce themself a running joke. Because cheating and just describing the name as sounding well etc is not clever.

So... the parties originally interested in the McGuffin shouldn't have had any intetest in it cause the thing it does would not actually have given them an advantage. At all? And they could neither have been interested in it for the dragon stuff cause they didn't know or at least could not even remotely be certain?

I would almost feel sorry for him, if I would have had any sympathies for him so far.

Did I mention that I hate authors that write in ways making it so bloody obvious that they want praise for their work and progressiveness while doing a shit job at either?

On a note: If you are going to have terms from a different language in your text, fictional or not, make sure it is A) a term that is actually untranslatable and/or B) a word the characters would actually use instead of a different one.

Oh a short-tempered, racist, pseudo-irish/scottish drunkard... how amazingly creative and totally not cliche and bad writing...

So they are fighting a dragon again. Shouldn't they know just HOW to defeat one from the first fight? Y'know the obe the author conveniently skipped in the previous book?

The author is STILL letting characters think in response to the narration. Ffs

Wasn't it that they knew pretty well what the land and sea to the East look like in the previous book? Could the author please make up his mind?

Either the author approves if being such a self-righteous untalented ass as this character or he really just put in another archetype cliche without understanding why these characters exist, left alone how to write them. Again.
