I still don’t understand why we need all these things. What’s an Horus eye? Why do we need the bone watch? Why do we care about the Babel fragments? And what do they need the rings for? How did the fallen House fall?

I still don’t know why I should care.

Also what the hell is a Sphinx in this world?? Apparently you can fake one by putting on a mask? But they are also not just humans with a mask or a face? Why are they reptilian?? Aren’t Sphinxes lions with a human head?? Why do they need a mask then? Also what is up with the crocodile mask? Why does that take over when a bad guy is caught?? I’m sooo confused, give me world building!!

Please give me a reason to care about any of these people!

This book feels like I’m reading the second part of a series without having read the first. I kind of understand what is happening, but why should I care and also stop referencing things that happened in the past, if we don’t know about them.
