Reading this book just makes me ask myself why it is that Gideon doesn't feel like YA despite all the memes and snark. I can't articulate it. Is it because all the (ugh, sigh) "sapphic longing" is almost all subtext? Is it because nobody has inner monologues about identity? What's the difference between a novel about emerging adults and a YA novel?
