Well the cat is out of the bag, Iris knows Elle is Lucy. Now what? I’m very curious where it goes from here.

That is quite an elaborate plot and honestly, they were cunning snakes in doing it. I wonder how Lucy is gonna react.

Ah so Dracula is Akasha. Only kidding. But if what the Doctor says is true, killing him will kill all vampires he has ever created. I dont know the veracity of that but I guess we’ll see

Okay so Goldaming Life is so vampiric cult… right? And yay Iris and Lucy finally kissed.

White’s description of Dracula is mesmerizing. An insatiable hunger. Never able to be fulfilled. He hasnt been in this much, but his presence permeates the book. It’s rather like Bram Stoker’s Dracula, but done in a way that doesn’t bore the tits off me.

Christ all these vampires are fucking lunatics. But… fair. Though that all of them were made by Dracula is… disturbing. He is most obviously not dead and is probably that damned fox Iris keeps seeing

Okay so the three suitors are trying to get all of Lucy’s money, right? This reminds me a little bit of a Sherlock Holmes/Dracula retelling where Van Helsing and co were all scammers looking to steal the Counts fortune. I will say I feel terrible for Lucy, always running in search of love and affection she can seemingly never find. Her and Iris are rather similar, and different in other ways.

This may be blasphemous to say but it is giving Anne Rice. And the prose… My god. “I wondered what would greet him on the other side. I hoped, for his sake, that it was nothing. No dreams. Only sleep, perfect and dark and eternal.” Loving it so far.

God these other brides are evil pieces of work, aren’t they? Christ.

The shift between past and present is giving me a bit of whiplash if I’m honest. But it’s interesting to see the mind of Lucy explored, especially in a book that doesnt bore the tits off me and make me want to claw out my eyes in rage.
