the aim here seems to be telling a gothic horror story but without all the subtext and pretense involved so instead i’m reading about absolutely diabolical and explicit villainy from my new least favorite character of all time

the narrative voice is so much better at the line level alone than any of the preceding books. wow.

i'm crowning this as my official Favorite Book Cover Of All Time. also i'm quite nervous because the potential for me to not like this book is, in fact, a bit higher than i'd like, but here we go anyways! :D
