while i am glad we don’t have to go a painstakingly repetitive explanation of Hartland to Kern’s team, i also don’t really like how Kern has just “remembered/figured it all out”. esp bc soooo many other concepts get repeated ad nauseam (god-hood, us/we/many/I), maybe some pages could have been redirected. AT tends to do this, the repeating of internal monologue.

the history of the fighting Stomatopods, the waldoes that allow Cato to operate out of the water and the mods to his gills; so imaginative! i love it.

ahhh so Alis is the amorphous “goo” from Book 3, okay. oooof, Portia and Fabian melded together but also still Portia and Fabian, but now uploaded to the ant OS of a Kern robot is crazy. and there are people on Hartworld!
