Ok, I said when I finished Book 1 (A Taint in the Blood) in the set that I wanted to at least *try* Book 2 and see where it went. And so far, it does seem to have improved. Less in the way of gratuitous sexual assaults and more in the way of plot for a start (less in the way of consensual kink as well, alas). The whole police procedural angle is an interesting one too. It's definitely keeping me reading :-)
