Another thing- the language is so modern. But, I think we're supposed to be in a more historical-y fiction given the introduction? ?

I don't know why the MMC has such a strong desire to "protect" her right off the bat. She's also just a terrible FMC.

Why does she keep growling?

I'm a little confused. Maybe I missed something, but does the Selection only pick college-age children and people under 18? If so, why did her dad get taken? And mom?

It's okay so far. I really dislike when FMCs are trying too hard to be angry/bad/vengeful. This one falls victim to it and it just feels so forced.
