It’s refreshing to see that Jane has actual human limitations. She hasn’t become some amazing warrior after training for 3 months, she hasn’t mastered Runes to protect herself, and she is still vulnerable to magical manipulation - understandable and relatable progression rather than unprecedented skill and strength from nowhere is much better.

Very good twist on Beauty and the Beast so far. Jane is argumentative and uncertain, Reagan is smug and aloof. The support characters are interesting.
Jane is about to learn to fight, to defend herself.
