The narrator really helps to bring the novel to life. The prose, while amazing, can also be a little bit clunky when read aloud, so I sometimes rewind and relisten to a short passage. The characters are vivid and realistic. Knowing what I know about fundamental Christianity in the US, I can see how Natalie would think, believe, and act the way she does. The scope this book covers is wide, but it's done well.
