The pauses between flashbacks are getting annoying. Starting to wish each memory would just be told completely and then we see how the guys are doing in the present. Because half the time all we read between memories is filler.

Gun or no gun is a stupid catchphrase. I get it, I get what it means and why they fixated on it. But it sounds more dumb in my head every time I read it and they nod to each other all serious-like.

Pretty sure this was supposed to be a dark, gritty tale of two men who suffered, seeking comfort in each other. But the flashbacks to their kidnapping just comes off as cheap.

"It was torture. Literally." I don't know why this is so funny.

"Now, Cam wasn’t some nagging woman who had to overanalyze everything, but he did need to have his facts straight." Mhm. Sure.

"He'd never really liked guys who acted like women." Excuse me while I stick my face in the blender.

I know the author put "easy" in quotes when talking about why Austin wouldn't be taking the easy way out like the other guy and killing himself but still...that's so rude.

Also she's a total bitch. We're told at the beginning that Jade is not a mean woman. Cool. So would a not-mean person tell their husband who was kidnapped and held against his will for 5-months to "Feel free to join me when you can act like a normal person." And berate them for things out of their control since - hey fuckface - a person who has gone through a traumatic event might never...

Like idk that might be something to talk about if ya'll ever want to make things work again. But then again his wife has been described (through actions) as prissy, high-maintenance, and lacking in empathy, so maybe it is something she'd do.

Not far in and already the frequent jabs at women are rampant for no reason. Basically parroting stereotypical shit like how emotional women get and using them to infer that their friend is being nosy/annoying. And also I find it hard to believe a grown woman would fake enjoying sex if her traumatized husband (who was previously gentle) violently fucked her like described.
