I also hate when authors who are unable to create drama use dramatic language/words instead. Like they're trying to convince you this scene is terrible and horrifying and intense, but they're unable to pull it off with just they're storytelling.

I don't have words to describe how terrible this is, especially coming from a popular, published authour.
Why does Saint use the excuse of the visitor tag? He could have just said that he was following up on that incident that happened at the beginning of the book??? Why risk this whole tag excuse? What if Sheppard decided to talk to someone else??

Also, I don't think this was written or assisted by AI, but some sentences make me question it.

I've only read one other book by Hoover and I don't remember Verity being this bad. I know that Hoover isn't the most complex writer, but even for a cheap romance/thriller this is pretty terrible. It is redundant, shallow, rushed, and is almost unrealistic depiction of a writer's process, which is ironic in more than one way.
