I have liked this book less and less after listening to it. The medieval stuff seemed completely shoehorned in, and doesn't make sense why educated historians would agree to do any of this time travel... It does not seem to hold up as more than a quick, entertaining read over the weekend. This was not the revolutionary and cutting-edge time-travel book that I thought it was when I was 16 y/o.

This has not been a fun trip down memory lane. Crichton essentially came up with all this time travel technology just to abandon it and shoehorn in a fucking medieval setting. Why? So he can pontificate about how history has it wrong and that it was deadly times back then all the time? Or that the bad guys won and wrote the history books in their favor? This book does not hold up.

I admit I read this twenty years plus years ago when it first came out and it was incredibly exciting then. Quantum computing mixed with time travel mixed with archeological finds and then medieval settings. A lot was pushed into the story. But listening to the audiobook now just takes away from its originality at the time.

I miss Michael Crichton. One of the best sci-fi authors of all time. He really did a ton of research to make his books believable. He opened readers' minds to new ideas, technologies, and futures. His characters always needed work, but the lore was incredible. This book is time travel imagined with Quantum Computing, something that he wrote about over twenty damn years ago...

Started this audible audiobook because I loved this book as a kid. The quantum time machine in this blew my mind. This book was ahead of its time. It was written over 20 years ago and I wonder what we'll learn about quantum mechanics in another 20 years. But this book was adapted into an absolutely awful fucking movie with Paul Walker. I left the theater 20 mins in.
