Ok so I can’t lie this middle act is dragging a bit, besides when we’re with Paul, Jessica and the Fremen in the desert.
If I’m remembering correctly these whole extra Gurney Halleck and Baron Harkonnen storylines were cut out in Denis’s adaptation - and I think for good reason. I see the point of what the setup is acoomplishing, but it just feels super boring compared to what’s goin on in the desert :/

Just read the sequence where Paul rides the Maker - probably one of, if not the most thrilling and captivating chapters of a sci-fi fantasy book I’ve ever read.

LISAN AL-GAIB. MAY THY KNIFE CHIP AND SHATTER! Ts so peak. Frank Herbert is goated for this. I think this marks the end of Denis’ first Dune movie. Gonna rewatch shortly.

Straight up…. How the fuck was this written in 1965? So immersive + as far as I can remember, Denis has done a fantastic job with his adaptation thus far.
