It wasn't betrayal, guys. Now I feel stupid and miffed.

Every day I open this book and wait for Sora to betray us, and if the hints turn out to be lies I can't decide if I will be disappointed or relieved. Some good tension keeping us going these past ~50 pages, I gotta say.

I get it, genuinely, & yeah it stays in character for Kea yo open the email impulsively but has girl never had malware before 😭😭😭😭 WHY YOU OPEN A FISHY LOOKING .TXT ATTACHMENT; MISS MA'AM 😭😭😭

I do love lethal combat and legalized dueling; on occasion, LA knows what's up

Knew shit was gonna go down at the gala; always does. It was a fun go of near death hijinks & underhanded maneuvers, & the punchiness of the narrative voice makes for great action pieces, but I do think overall, I would like just a little more from the descriptive writing. Its such a unique world we're making & I want to be steeped in it, rather than looking through a sometimes opaque glass.

Don't love that Sora Saw Kea's Palakiko memory already. The pairing will decidedly be a main force in the story & it's cheap to give that personal insight so soon. A memory of Keanu would be better - still revealing but not a Core Memory for Kea. It feels unearned; he didn't have to actively try for the information & it's bonding them prematurely. The Palakiko story has much weight & it's used haphazard, here.

While, initially, I was lightly disappointed the book doesn't take place on Hawai'i nei, & I'm still waiting for more information about The Flood (other people may not like history lesson interludes, but I'm built different & like a Lore Dump (& this book could use one)), I am glad that my past LA visits have given me more insight to the landscape for me to indulge in, since the writing is very straightforward.
