Wondering what Emma’s bursts of her religious obsessions mean, is it like all or nothing thinking? Since she can’t act upon her desires she internalizes it with her idea of self sacrifice/ suffering?

Having a visceral reaction after this chapter. How is it that Rodolphe have no lingering at all after all that? I think it is still that Emma is grieving over her only chance at freedom rather than Rodolphe (freedom> Rodolphe) and the only chance of “freedom” for her was to still be depending on a man.

Lots of beautiful descriptions. I like how it concludes back to the wedding bouquet from when Emma was wondering what would happen to hers if she died compared to Charles’ previous wive’s.
