I don’t know, but this book is really getting on my nerves right now. Maybe it’s just a me problem bc I went into it with certain expectations that just didn’t end up happening at all.
I’m not sure if this even counts as a spoiler, so I’m going to keep it a bit vague but I wish I had known certain things before starting the book. Especially the whole part where Harper escapes and goes with J bc the way it was talked about made it feel like that would be the final stretch of the story, like the last 10%😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑. So I kept waiting for that moment building it up in my head and now I’m just… really frustrated. Like, what even is this pacing?
It genuinely feels like the book is way longer than it needed to be. Not in a good way but in a way where it’s dragging things out instead of getting to the parts I was actually waiting for. It feels like the story keeps circling around instead of moving forward and that’s making it really hard to stay patient with it. It could have been shorterrrrrrr and still made perfect sense without losing anything important.
Up until around 75% I was fully into it. I thought it was almost perfect. I was SOOO invested liked the characters, I liked ALMOST EVERYTHING but after that point something shifted for me. Now it feels like the story isn’t matching the buildup anymore🤧🤧🤧 and it’s honestly throwing me off a lot. Nothing feels like it’s going in the direction I expected and that mismatch between expectation and execution is what’s making me so annoyed.
And I don’t want to sound like I’m hating on it completely because I still do like parts of it. But I think I went in with a very specific idea of what the story was leading toward and that idea just isn’t what I’m getting
I don’t know maybe I’ll feel differently once I finish it. Rn tho I’m just kind of stuck between liking it and being really frustrated with it at the same time
